The Study Of The Serial-verb Construction In Nan Qi Shu

The paper is about the serial-verb construction in Nan Qi Shu. We research the syntactic structures, semantic categories, combination characteristics, semantic analyses and diachronic development of serial-verb construction in Nan Qi Shu.There are four chapters in the paper. The introduction respectively introduces the purpose and meaning of this research, research status, research methods, research objects and concepts of the serial-verb construction in Nan Qi Shu. Besides, it elaborates the differences between serial-verb construction and other syntactic structures.Chapter One classifies the serial-verb construction in Nan Qi shu. The serial-verb constructions are classified as marked serial-verb constructions and non-marked serial-verb constructions. Besides, we analyze the characteristics of structure types.Chapter three classifies the verbs in the serial-verb constructions of Nan Qi Shu based on the semantic meanings, and analyze the characteristics of verb combination.Chapter four analyzes the semantic meanings of the serial-verb constructions in Nan Qi Shu. It mainly researches the relation of semantic meanings between the verbs, and between verbs and the subjects as well as semantic orientation between the verbs and the adverbials.Chapter five compares the serial-verb construction in Nan Qi Shu with Zuo Zhuan from syntactic structures, the usage of verbs and semantic relationships. Then we take V杀 O V 得 O and V 破 O as example to analyze the situation of the development from the serial-verb constructions to verb-resultative constructions from the diachronic perspective. Besides, we combine diachronic and synchronic perspectives, semantic and syntactic perspective during analyzing. By exhaustive statistics, detailed description and the comparison of multiple perspectives, we explain the characteristics and development tendencies of the serial-verb constructions.
