| Research on Serial Verb Structure of Contemporary Chinese(SVSCC) is one of the hot and difficult spots of research on contemporary Chinese grammar. Firstly, this paper scans the overall situation and controversy points of SVSCC. Then, based on results of other's research on this topic, the term"Serial Verb Structure"is redefined, Syntactic and semantic structures of SVSCC are depicted and classified, in which the composing of VP1 and VP2 are fully studied. And the complexity of semantic relations of SVSCC itself as well as the difference between SVSCC and related structures are discussed, in which the relations between VP1 and VP2,between subject and VP1,between subject and VP2 are all analyzed .Further,this paper explores the following problems:semantic direction of adverbial of serial verb structures, the negative range of negative structures, semantic amalgamation and the disputed structure of"V1ç€V2".Based on these study above , this paper demonstrates rationality and inevitability of SVSCC from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, analyzes SVSCC from 4 dimensions, they are time order showed by the verb structures of the fore verb phrase and the back one; the way of embodiment between two verb phrases in space; how the sentence structure restricts meanings; and category theory. Also,this paper pays much attention to mapping of cognitive mode in Chinese structures.In short,the whole paper is to depict syntactic and semantic characteristics of SVSCC and to explore the basis of structure-forming of SVSCC . |
