In the field of translation studies, the research on the translation of children’s literature is marginalized and has not aroused enough attention. Due to the specificity of the children’s literature, some issues of translation should be explored. The thesis adopts the case study method, descriptive study method and contrastive study method to study the translation of children’s literature based on the skopos theory.Skopos theory, the basic theory of the thesis, is the kernel of German functional approach in translation studies, which has posed a challenge to the traditional literal translation theories. In view of skopos theory, the purpose of the target text has become the main standard for judging what translation strategies and methods will be employed. The thesis studies the rationality, which the translators use different translation strategies and methods for different purposes.By comparison, it makes an analysis of how the three rules of the skopos theory lead the translator in their translation activity especially in their choice of translation strategies and methods. All the illustrative examples come from the classic work of the children’s literature The Wizard of Oz. Through analyzing, the author explores the feasibility and validity of the skopos theory used to lead the translation of children’s literature.
