Children’s literature works are for children. Therefore, children in target language should be the ultimate goal of children’s literature translation. It requires translators to fully understand the nature of children’s literature and adopt corresponding translation methodology. German functionalist translation theory, especially its core theory-Skopos theory, stresses that translation is determined by its addressee. Skopos theory stresses three principles:purpose, coherence and faithfulness. However, over-emphasizing the principle of purpose in translation process distorts the whole theory as well as the translation activity. In this paper, typical examples are chosen from "The Story of Two Sisters Who Were Jealous of Their Younger Sister", aimed to discuss how to appropriately do translations from three principles of Skopos theory.
