This is a translation project report of From Imperial Glory to Buddhist Piety: The Record of a Ming Ritual in Three Contexts by Natasha Heller, an American scholar who studies Chinese Buddhism culture from Tang to contemporary China. The source text mainly introduces the meaning a commemoration in different context called "The Record of the Broad Offering Buddha Assembly at Mount Jiang" written by an eminent officer of Ming dynasty Song Lian, and its social functions. Against the world globalization trend, China wants her culture as powerful as her economy, and in this case, China needs communicating with outside world and translation plays the role of bridge. The source text is a research result on Chinese Buddhism of a foreign scholar, which will help Chinese scholar to know more about the outside ideas. The project is guided by the theory of "memes of translation", and uses different translation techniques to solve problems in translation. Through the project, the author has learned more about Buddhism culture and the theory of "memes of translation". Buddhism culture of China is part of the culture of Chinese nation, by introducing the research of foreign scholars on Chinese Buddhism culture. This report represents the unique charm of Chinese culture, and this will stimulate more Chinese people to study it; on the other hand, culture exchange with English culture fuels the development of Chinese culture. Besides, the research on Buddhism of Ming dynasty will be of some help in relative researches in the future.
