Based on previous studies by others and field data collected by myself, this thesis aims at introducing the "cattle" from Mongolian linguistic and cultural perspectives. More specifically, the present thesis focuses on proverbs, compound words, and dialectal vocabularies related to the "cattle" from the linguistic perspectives. At the same time, riddles, eulogies, folk-custom, and games related to the "cattle" from the cultural perspectives.The present thesis consists of introduction, main body (two chapters), conclusions, reference, and acknowledgement.The introduction illustrates the purpose and significances of the selected topic, and briefly introduces the research methods, research methods and origins of sources.The first chapter is entitled "cattle and Mongolian language studies", including four contents:proverbs, compound words (11 pars that include names of utensils, animals, plants, tribes, and so on), word-formation based on "cattle", and the dialectal features of the cattle names.The second chapter is entitled "cattle and Mongolian culture studies". In this chapter, riddles, eulogies, folk-custom, and games related to the "cattle" are observed from the cultural angle.The conclusion part is a summary of the content of the whole thesis.
