Li Guangtian is one of the most characteristic prose writers in 1930s’ China who gained his greatest achievement in essay area, but he also wrote novels and literature reviews in his career. Hua Lang Ji, Yin Hu Ji and Que Suo Ji were the three prose collections that Li wrote before the Anti-Japanese war. Due to the consistency of creation time, conscious tendency and art style, this period was considered as Li’s early stage. Although Li’s early prose did not involve with great topics, he showed the audiences a colorful life gallery by telling his own feelings and experiences which contained deep humanity ideas and the truth of social life. We can say that 1930s could be Li’s most reprehensive period, either in creation characteristics or the chase of natural beauty point of view.This article mainly focusing on these three prose collections, by analyzing the text, we can provide a total understanding of Li’s prose work, trying to dig out Li’s core values and aesthetic characteristics through checking the spiritual source, conscious tendency and art style which eventually define the unique contribution that Li made for Chinese modern prose.
