| Li Guangtian's local essay, simple but fresh, natural but vigorous, rich in marked smack of everyday life, is popular with several generations from generation to generation. This thesis, which considers local imagination of essay creating as its angle, discusses the aesthetic value of Li Guangtian's local essay by analyzing Li Guangtian's essay works in the 1930s.This paper is composed of six parts. The introduction is a summary of Li Guangtian's study of local essay. The first chapter analyses Li Guangtian's local complex from identity and rebellion and deals with the origins of Li Guangtian's local imagination of essay creating in the 1930s. The second chapter expounds on the building-up process of Li Guangtian's local imagination, which on the one hand includes Li Guangtian's choice and reconstruction of local object of description, and on the other hand reflects Li Guangtian's choice and application of local means of description. The third reveals Li Guangtian's local pictures that he builds by local imagination from the natural world, custom and characters. As a conclusion, the last part gives an appraisal of Li Guangtian's position in modern local Chinese essay history.
