China’s rapid development of economy is accompanied by the enhancement of political and cultural influence in international community. How to efficiently tell the stories of China in international communication, especially in translation, has been a heated topic. Guangxi is an important gateway for China’s communication to other countries. Thus the translation quality has an impact on the international publicity of Guangxi and the presentation of a good national image. However, the available translations of Guangxi are far from satisfactory. Using the theory of interness as theoretical basis, the thesis intends to carry out a case study on the presentation and interaction of the interrelated concepts of intersubjectivity, intertextuality and interculturality in three officially published books, namely, the Guangxi:Land of Wonders and Beauty, Window on Guangxi and Overview of Nanning for the exploration of the significance of the interness theory. The translation of Guangxi is the process of equal and interactive dialogues between subjects, namely, the translator, the author, the patronage and readers. Introductions to Guangxi are an absorption and transformation of other texts, bearing strong intertexutual features. Highlighting the cultural uniqueness of Guangxi in translation with mutual respect facilitates harmonious relationships between cultures. The theory of interness provides a new perspective and useful theoretical foundation for the translations of Guangxi. The emphasis on the establishment of equal, open, interactive and harmonious relationships in translation bears vital significance for the coordination between subjects, the maintenance of intertextual features, the full presentation of the uniqueness of Guangxi and the facilitation of equal and open communication between cultures. It is hoped that the study can offer positive enlightenment for bettering the quality of translations of Guangxi and effectively highlighting the uniqueness of Guangxi in international communication.
