Translators Association of China(TAC) is the only national association for the translation and interpreting community, and it plays a pivotal role in the implementation of the Chinese culture “Going out” Strategy and Chinese translation industry development. A work report of the Association is a summary to the Association’s work in the last five years and an outlook and expectation to the future translation industry development with high reality and authority. Therefore, translating the work report of the Association and seeking to spread the translated version home and broad are beneficial for people to get familiar with the basic facts of the Association and the development tendency and recent dynamics of the domestic language industry, so as to attract excellent talents home and abroad to serve Chinese translation undertakings.In combination with the translation practice of the Sixth Council Work Report of TAC, this report researches and analyzes the work report of the Association from the perspective of languages with Chinese characteristics under the guidance of the Functional equivalence theory. The report is detailed to introduce the report background, task description, process description and case analysis. Part One introduces briefly TAC, its Council Work Report and the purpose and significance of selecting such a text to translate and to conduct research. Part Two is the task description, describing the source text and its characteristics. Part Three is the process description, including pre-translation, translation process and quality control. Part Four is the case analysis. In this part, the author analyzes, at the lexical level, the translation of terms, four-character phrases, and the syntactical level, the translation of coordinate predicates, zero-subject and long sentences combined with the Functional equivalence theory and specific translation strategies. The last part is the conclusion of the thesis.Through this translation practice, the author develops a deep understanding of political documents, and further studies and practices the Functional equivalence theory and other specific translation strategies, which aims at improving the quality of the English translation of political documents, and hopes to inspire other translators to improve their translating skills in the field of political documents.
