Based on the illustration of bilingual dictionary under the background of development,the The thesis taking Students English Chinese graphic Dictionary and LONGMAN ENGLISH-CHINESE (Hanyu Pinyin) PHOTO DICTIONARY as the research object,to statistics and analysis the number of illustrations, color, location, the part of speech, the way to illustrate of the two dictionaries, and according to the comparison results of two dictionaries and illustrated dictionary research situation at present, give some suggestions on illustrated dictionary compiling Chinese as a foreign language. The major part of the thesis are:1. Introduce the illustrations classification of the learning-type illustrated dictionary, including color classification, position classification, content classification, etc., and examples are given to illustrate the Feng Chunbo’s classification theory.2. The Students English-Chinese Dictionary uses monochromatic illustrations, and the position including text illustrations in the body of the dictionary and category illustration before the body of the dictionary, text illustration can subdivided into illustrations under and illustrations on the right; According to the content, illustrations including single illustration, scene illustration, structure illustration. Illustration can also divided according to the words of different part of speech, the Students English-Chinese Dictionary illustrate for nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, interjections illustrations.3.
