As a key element of postgraduate teaching, cultivating model plays a vital role in the cultivating effect. In China, universities began to recruit full-time M.Ed since2009, with the rapid development of society, the cultivating model for postgraduates has gained more and more popularity. In the meanwhile, the setting of cultivating model has paid much more attention to both the postgraduates’ needs and the society’s needs. By investigating the M.Ed’s attitudes towards the cultivating model in Chongqing Normal University, this paper tries to answer the following questions:1. What are the educational backgrounds of this year’s freshmen? What do they expect in terms of the cultivating model during their postgraduate study?2. What are the job intentions of this year’s graduates? Based on the job hunting,what do they think of the current cultivating model?3. What’s the employment situation of last year’s graduates? Based on their working experience, what do they want to suggest for the current cultivating model?In order to answer the questions above, questionnaire and interview are used to investigate M.Ed’s attitudes. Two kinds of questionnaires are designed to investigate this year’s freshmen and this year’s graduates respectively, and an interview is designed to investigate last year’s graduates’ attitudes. After the investigation, the data are collected immediately and analyzed through SPSS.As is suggested in this research, most of this year’s freshmen majored in English-teaching at the undergraduate stage. Both this year’s graduates and last year’s graduates are satisfied with the current cultivating model on the whole, and they hold the view that the current cultivating model coordinates with this major’s educational objectives. However, they think there still exists some problems, such as the employment guidance, the program, the teaching practice and the teaching researchcompetence issues. In order to solve the problems mentioned before, this paper comes up with the following suggestions to perfect the current cultivating model for M.Ed in English. Firstly, the cultivating model should satisfy the postgraduates’ expectations.Secondly, the program should be optimized. Thirdly, the cultivating quality assurance system should be perfected.
