| Based on theory and literature of narcissism and mature narcissism, a four factors’ model of mature narcissism was put forward, a narcissistic questionnaire was developed, and the relationship between mature narcissism, life events, psychological health and character strength were analyzed. The conclusions are as follows:(1) Mature narcissism questionnaire mainly includes four dimensions: non-exaggerated factor, non-small factor and self openness and self stability. Factor analysis showed that mature narcissism questionnaire has good reliability and validity, the total internal consistency coefficient and half coefficient was fulfilled the requirements of statistics.(2) Mature narcissism on demographic variables have the following characteristics: The overall score of mature narcissism, non-exaggerated factor, and non-small factor have significant differences in gender, the female’s score are higher than male’s. The overall score of mature narcissism has no significant difference between students with majors of arts, science, and engineering, whereas the score of exaggerated factor and non-small factor are different between the students with the three majors. Mature narcissism and its dimensions have no significant difference between cities, towns and rural students.(3) The correlation between mature narcissism and life events stress is negative. Narcissism maturity level can affect the amount of stress of an individual encountering life events. The correlation between mature narcissism and UPI is negative and significant, but the correlation between life events stress and UPI is positive. Mediating effect analysis showed that narcissism maturity level can affect the amount of stress in the face of life events, thereby affect the psychological health, therefore the life events stress is the mediator between mature narcissism and psychological health.(4) Mature narcissism and character strength has a significant positive correlation, and in character strength, only bravery, leadership, the appreciation for beauty as well as hope have a significant negative correlation with UPI.(5) Character strength and mature narcissism have a combined effect on mental health. Cluster analysis showed that the individuals with highest character strength and highest mature narcissism scores are healthiest in psychology, while those lowest in the scores of and mature narcissism are least healthy in psychology. The results show that character strength and mature narcissistic both affect mental health, and the development of character strength and narcissistic have a common course. |
