Teh Wang, the vice chairman of the Silingol League launched the Mongolian Autonomous Movement in July 1933. The news disseminated throughout China and kicked up a bit of ruckus in China and other countries, therefore Chinese and foreign newspapers paid great attention to the movement. On the one hand, Chinese and foreign newspaper published a lot of news with the progress of the Mongolian Autonomous Movement to explain what was going on. On the other hand, they published numerous editorials and commentaries which focused on the Mongolian Autonomous Movement, situation of the Mongolian nation, national policy of the Central Government, the Japanese Manchuria and Mongolia policy etc., from which to reflect the attitudes of the people and to influence the National Government’s decisions. At the beginning, Chinese newspapers had expressed their opposition to the Inner Mongolian autonomous movement. They thought it wasn’t good for country and nation if Inner Mongolia implemented autonomy. When the terms between the National Government and Teh Wang et al into a stalemate, Chinese newspapers offered proposals about Mongolian ethnic problems and Mongolian Autonomous Movement one after another. At the same time they suggested National Government change the policy on dealing with Mongolian affair. At the later period of Mongolian Autonomous Movement, Chinese newspapers turned into persuade the National Government and Teh Wang et al, especialy Teh Wang et al, to ease their dissatisfaction which was caused by the autonomous provision. Because of the political standing, Chinese newspapers’ reports and editorials were subjective and one-sided to some extent, but their goal was was maintaining national interest which was full of patriotism. It reflected that under pressure of the internal and external problems, Chinese National consciousness was awakening. The foreign newspapers also paid close attention to the Mongolian Autonomous Movement. They published a lot of reports which was factual and objective and few editorials, because they were not influenced by national factors and restricted by National Government. So these English reports had certain reference value in historical data.
