A Report On The Translation Of Engineering Education Accreditation Report Of Dalian University Of Technology

As an important system to ensure engineering education quality, engineering education accreditation has been widely implemented within the field of engineering education both in China and the worldwide. China has started the accreditation of engineering education since 2005, however, it was officially admitted to the Washington Accord in 2015, and then became the full member, which means our engineering education has been promoted to the world stage and will receive the inspection of international criteria. Therefore, to translate our engineering education accreditation reports precisely is no doubt an important basic step to receive the international examination.The source text is the engineering education accreditation report of two majors, the program of chemistry engineering and technology electrical, and the program of engineering and automation, which are all in Dalian University of Technology. The text was given by my supervisor as part of a project. It consists of two reports of the same format with clear structure and substantial contents that assess their education quality comprehensively from five aspects. In terms of the contents, the reports use a few engineering terminologies, though, more expressions are related to education filed. Therefore its genre should be categorized to the educational report that has both the objectivity of report and its own featured expressions.Based on the translation practice, this translation report records all the procedures from preparation, analysis to review. It categories and analyzes the characteristics and contents of the source text. The attention is paid to its vocabulary and sentence patterns with typical examples to be analyzed. The writer tries to fully and integrally record and analyze the harvest and problems in this practice, and hope this translation report can provide some help to the future translation of similar texts.
