A Report On The Translation Practice Of UK Engineering Accreditation System Research

As a practice report on translation,this report describes the translation work conducted by the author in the team of research for UK Engineering Accreditation System and analyzes the translation of texts selected from the websites of the UK professional engineering organizations to discuss how Newmark's semantic translation and communicative translation guide the practice,aiming to provide reference for future translation practice.At the moment,there are many researches on semantic translation and communicative translation,most of which emphasize the translation of literary texts.Since few people apply these two translation theories to translation practices of online technical materials,this paper aims to discuss the guiding role that semantic translation and communicative translation play in the translation of online technical materials through case study.The report consists of four chapters,with the first one being a brief introduction to the translation practice,followed by a discussion about the translation process,including preparation,translation and revision in Chapter Two.Chapter Three gives priority to the guidance of semantic translation and communicative translation on the translation practice.In this part,the author will first introduce these two theories and their differences,analyze the text to determine whether these theories are applicable,and then discuss the theories' applicability from the perspectives of diction,syntax and context.Finally,the last Chapter sums up the experience from this practice for reference.
