As we all know, to the people foodstuff is all-important, namely hunger breads discontentment. Chinese people have always paid more attention to particular principles in the cuisine culture. Cuisine culture, as a significant part of Chinese culture, is extensive and profound with a long history. Cuisine culture prefers to symbolize elegant ancient culture of its country rather than reflect culinary art. With the acceleration of economic globalization, the issue of globalization in other aspects is in full swing. Therefore, Chinese cuisine plays more and more significant role in promoting Chinese culture, and undertakes more and more important responsibility to push it to the whole world. When it comes to eating, etiquette must be involved. It is necessary to carry Chinese etiquette culture forward, while spreading Chinese cuisine culture. In this sense, a well-translated version of cuisine culture is indispensable to its promotion abroad.The report takes on the reflection about the whole translation process of excerpt parts of Chinese-style Banquet which gives introduction of Chinese etiquette and cuisine culture in order to make target text acceptable and comprehensible to target readers. Based on the purpose of spreading Chinese folk culture laded with Chinese etiquette and cuisine, the author looks deeply into relevant translation methods and strategies under the guidance of communicative translation theory. In dealing with this kind of text, the author believes that communicative translation theory is able to effectively express both the information and emotion of the original passage.In the translation process, the author focuses on three aspects: historical allusions, names of Chinese dishes and bamboo-shaped long sentences with Chinese Characteristic. “division and reconstructionâ€, “transforming implicit into explicit†and “cultural compensation†are chosen as the main methods, and addition and omission, literal translation are used flexibly in order to achieve the readability of the target text, and maximize its communicative purpose. |
