Dostoevsky is a famous writer in Russia in the nineteenth century. He has written many works which analyze and lash humanity deeply such as Crime and Punishment and Carla Ivan Karamazov Brothers. These works have strong sociality, practicalness, realistic meanings and humanistic feelings. Yu Hua, a Chinese avant-garde(advance guard) writer also writes many works which describe and express humanity, which has experimental meanings. However, Dostoevsky’s lash is more heavy, deep and clear. He not only digs out the darkness in humanity, but also digs the glory and purity hided behind these darkness. So Dostoevsky expresses humanity in all entirely with historical and centurial meaning. In contrast, Yu Hua’s dig is more superficial. What is more, he also describes bloody and violent circumstances. Yu Hua’s words are cool and plain and near to true circumstances, which tells readers truth and some philosophy about life. Yu Hua and Dostoevsky are related but different. Their lash of human nature also has similarities and differences. This paper is going to analyze the reasons which cause their differences and similarities and reveal the permanent exploration of existence and fate by human beings. This paper includes three chapters.
