A Study On The Relationship Among Personality, Defense Mechanism And Interpersonal Trust Of College Students

This study conducted a questionnaire survey of 400 college students in Sichuan Normal University and Sichuan University, using Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, Defense Style Questionnaire and Interpersonal Trust Scale, to measure the defense mechanism, personality and interpersonal trust of students, the purpose is to discuss the students’ personality, defense mechanism and characteristics of interpersonal trust and the relationship between personality traits and interpersonal trust and to explore and reveal the influence of interpersonal trust deep mechanism with some theoretical results for the defense mechanism and personality, interpersonal trust research, and provides some reference for the future work of university education.The conclusions are as follows:(1)There is significant difference in dimension, psychoticism between male and female college students; urban students and rural students in the psychoticism and neuroticism have significant differences; there is significant difference in introversion, psychoticism,immature defense mechanism between only child college students and non only child college students.(2)There is significant difference in the intermediate defense mechanism and concealment factor between male and female students; urban students and rural students of four defense mechanism factor scores are not significantly different; only child and non only child in four defense mechanism factor had no significant difference.(3)Male and female college students’ interpersonal trust average score have significant difference; interpersonal trust of urban students and rural students have significant differences in average; there is significant difference in interpersonal trust between only child college students and non only child college students.(4)Extroversion and mature defense mechanism and masking factors, interpersonal trust has a significant positive correlation; psychoticism and immature defense mechanism, intermediate defense mechanism, cover factor has significant positive correlation; neurotic and immature defense mechanism, intermediate defense mechanism, cover factor has significant positive correlation, and interpersonal trust has significant negative correlation; Eysenck Personality Questionnaire hide dimension and defense mechanisms scale cover factors have significant negative correlation; interpersonal trust and immature defense mechanism has significant negative correlation, and mature defense mechanisms have significant positive correlation.(5)Neuroticism has significant positive predictive effect on immature defense mechanism; extraversion dimension has significant positive predictive effect on mature defense mechanism; immature defense mechanism has a significant negative effect on interpersonal trust; mature defense mechanism has a significant positive predictive effect on interpersonal trust; neuroticism has a significant negative predictive effects of interpersonal trust; extraversion dimension has significant positive predictive effect on interpersonal trust; neuroticism has a significant negative predictive effect on interpersonal trust, immature defense mechanism has a significant negative effect on the interpersonal trust, the joint explanation for the variance of interpersonal trust is 35.1%; extraversion and immature defense mechanisms have a significant positive predictive effect on interpersonal trust, the joint explanation for the variance of interpersonal trust is 23.1%.(6)The internal and external characteristics of personality through mature defense mechanism indirectly affect the level of interpersonal trust, and the personality of the nervous system through immature defense mechanism indirectly affect the level of interpersonal trust.
