Transmission Of SiMa Xiangru In Sui And Tang Dynasties

The Tang dynasty, along with Han dynasty, was the golden age of prosperous culture, whose culture and literature had been deeply influenced by that of Han dynasty. Although the poetry developed better than Han Dafu in tang dynasty, fu was still accepted by most of scholars because of promoting of Shifu and Lvfu in imperial exam. Especially Sima Xiangru, emperor and ordinary scholars all had evaluated on it. Sui dynasty may usually be ignored on account of its short time, but it did accumulate abundant experience for the development and promotion of culture in Tang dynasty. Besides, most of scholars and officers who worked for sui dynasty and had been impacted by culture of sui dynasty had some culture traces which had influenced on structure of culture of tang dynasty, as a result, studying acceptance of Sima Xiangru should consider the two dynasties as a whole. The late tang dynasty was closed to the five dynasties, and many scholars experienced collapse of tang dynasty, so Sima Xiangru came into being different manners in the five dynasties. This paper took ages as the main line, three classes as foothold, namely, ruling class, further influencing scholars, and general scholars. The crucial part in the paper was about influence of spread for Sima Xiangru in tang dynasty, which emphasized the acceptance of Sima Xiangru in tang dynasty, at the same time, Li PO and Tu Fu were the centre in this part, and other scholars were discussed in the following parts. This paper aimed to roundly analyze the spread of Sima Xiangru in the Sui-tang dynasty and seek out reasons of this feature with age, so as to restore stereoscopic image of Sima Xiangru in scholars’ heart in the Sui-tang dynasty.
