A Simulated Interpreting Practice Report On "The Secret Of Book Of Change" Of The Lecture Room

Since the First Opium War, China was gradually invaded and bullied by foreign countries. Chinese people gradually lost their confidence with traditional Chinese culture, including Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism. The May 4th movement called for the abandonment of Confucianism. Since then, traditional Chinese culture began to be abandoned by Chinese people for several generations. Without the education of traditional Chinese culture, Chinese people lost their spiritual food and their virtue. Many problems are threatening our world without good traditional education. Fortunately, people began to realize the importance and benefits about traditional Chinese culture. Traditional Chinese culture are welcome in both China and abroad. Chinese president Xi Jinping are strongly advocating the education of traditional Chinese culture. Traditional Chinese culture is more and more popular in both China and abroad. All these reflects that it is a great chance to revitalize traditional Chinese culture and Chinese people. It is also a good chance to benefit the whole world. Facing such a promising future, interpreters can do a lot to spread traditional Chinese culture. However, there are still so many people who do not understand traditional Chinese culture deep enough and even misunderstand traditional Chinese culture in both China and abroad. As we know, traditional Chinese culture includes Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism. Book of Change is the source of traditional Chinese culture although it is considered to be part of Confucianism. Thoughts of hundred schools in China are all derived from Book of Change. Buddhism is from India. However, the thought of Buddhism and the thought of Book of Change can prove each other. Therefore, if people can understand Book of Change, they can understand the whole traditional Chinese culture. Professor Zeng Shiqiang’s lecture about Book of Change is easy to be understood. It will be a good material for people to learn Book of Change from level zero. That’s why the lecture, the Secret of Book of Change was chosen to be the material of this practice. The problems of this interpreting practice were analyzed in detail and the whole interpreting process was described in detail.This practicing report includes three parts, the introduction, main body and conclusion.The first part is introduction. The research background of traditional Chinese culture and the practical meaning by choosing this material are introduced in this part.The second part is the main body. It includes three chapters.Chapter I focuses on task description. The problems and the way to resolve them during the process are introduced in this chapter.The last part is conclusion. The analysis of the interpreting practice is concluded here. The unsettled problems during the process are carefully reflected and the inspiration and anticipation for the study and work in the future are mentioned here.
