This is a report on Chinese to English consecutive interpreting. The thesis mainly describes a consecutive interpreting task that the author and her partner deal with for a lecture of traditional Chinese culture. The author reviews the whole interpreting process which includes preparation, case study and conclusion. The author also analyzes the interpretation of professional cultural terms, simplification of long sentence and the inaccuracy caused by the differences in expression and way of thinking between the east and the west. According to the author’s knowledge and the experience, she also proposes some methods to deal with the problems. The appendix has also been listed at the end of the thesis.Through the description and the case study of the task, the following conclusions have been made:the interpreter should well-prepared before the task; while during the task, the interpreter should use the related interpreting strategies so that both the literal meaning and the implication could be understood accurately; the interpreter should also develop stronger psychological quality and place the effort appropriately so that one could avoid the disfluency.
