The Study Of Urban Underclass Of Shaanxi Province In Modern Period

In modern period Shaanxi urban underclass group is an integral part of Shaanxi social stratum structure. It is not only numerous, but also has profound impact to the modern Shaanxi social development. They made arduous efforts for a living, which played a role in development of Shaanxi society.From perspective of urbanization, this paper takes the social stratum structure of modern city in Shaanxi as the breakthrough point, analysing economic living state of urban underclass,positive and negative influence of urban underclass on modern social development,and social relief or education of Nanjing national government and Shaan-Gan-Ning border region, which outlines the state of urban underclass of Shannxi province in modern times.Based on factors of social status, wealth and income, modern shaanxi urban underclass generally consists of the following groups: the frist is labor groups, mainly including workers engaged in traditional handicraft or industry; the second is the group who makes a living by themselves; the third is homeless group which refers to marginal groups dissociated from social structure. The source of urban underclass is from farmers and other unemployed workers. In addition, the impact of foreign capitalism, the influence of natural disasters and frequent wars in modern shaanxi province city are the main causes of the urban underclass formation.Due to the large number of refuges pouring into cities, the labor market always kept a state of saturation. The wage of labor group kept a very low level, and most workers were even hard to make ends meet. their consumption structure appeared out of balance.Shaanxi urban underclass had significant effects on revolutionary process and economic development. Meanwhile, the urban underclass had great negative effects on social environment. The Nanjing national government set up relief agencies aiming at maintaining social order. The Shaan-Gan-Ning border region government developed a large number of laws and regulations which safeguarded the rights and interests of laborers, and carried out a lot of education activities. These measures improved the social atmosphere and the living standard urban underclass to a certain extent.Therefore, detailed research on the modern Shaanxi urban underclass community has a positive significance.
