Rational Interpretation Of Women’s Emotions-Compare Study On Jane Austen’s And Isabelle Yi’s Creative Themes

Jane Austen and Isabelle Yi are considered as influential women writers,both live at two different times, with a keen interest in literature.They embarked on the road of creation,as their respective talents shined in different eras.The characteristics found in their literary works seemed like so similar, they used a woman’s perspective to observe society,and they both adhere realistic writing.Despite living in different times,both Austen and Yi have shown their deep concern for women in society through their works,Austen and Yi’s dominate themes are also similar,they are regarded female as the most important writing objects,and they concern all aspects of women’s lives,such as discussion on women’s marriage problems,deconstruction and construction of the values and ethical concepts.However,”Similar is relative,different is absolute.”The differences in their themes are still noticeable,which will be the focus of this thesis.This thesis divided into three chapters,in each chapter,the author will elaborate on the similarities and differences,and the reasons behind them.Jane Austen and Isabelle Yi took a woman’s perspective to observe and write the female world, both focused on the growth process throughed a woman’s life,they especially focused on the social status and social roles of women, and discussed the fate of women. Marriage problems are the most essential part,so the author discussed to take it separately. Despite living in different societies,both of them realized that marriage is a result of many factors,in order to improve the chances of obtaining happiness in marrige,they promoted the idea that women should make rational judgments and choices when it comes to marriage. Independence for women is veryimportant, including economic independence and emotional independence, both are indispensable.They also revealed a lot of problems about values and ethics,and criticise them throughtly.At the same time, Jane Austen and Isabelle Yi gave their own rational perspective about women’s ethical values and moral values.Jane Austen and Isabelle Yi expressed the same intent in their topics:women should learn to think with rationalism and to live with rationalism.This is an extremely important guidance for women.With the development of literature, compare study on writers across time and space will continue to emerge and innovate itself.Comparative literature scholars should use an open and inclusive perspective to confront this phenomenon.
