Report On Consecutive Interpreting Of Obama’s Speech At The Opening Ceremony Of UN Climate Summit In 2014

With the rapid development of human society, the pollution of the environment is increasingly outstanding over the past few years. Natural disasters and global warming has caused great concern of the international community. On the other hand, with the economic ties strengthened continuously between the countries, conference interpreting plays an important role during the foreign affairs meetings.Based on the background of The UN Climate Summit in 2014, the author take Obama’s opening speech as an example to simulate the process of consecutive interpreting. This dissertation give an account of complete process of assignment accepting; pre-task preparation; mock interpretation. The author summarizes two major difficulties encountered in addressing the task and the solutions respectively. Combining book knowledge with experiences, this dissertation will provide a primary guidance to beginners.
