The Mongolia nationality and the Han nationality have their own long history and splendid culture tradition which they use their respective language to carry on. And finally they have their own rich language treasure house through constant development and precipitation. As important parts of the language house, the color words are not only attractive by their own cultural implication, they are also surprising for the ability to explain and serve other culture. In addition, for some specific nationality and religion they also have important cultural significance. A large number of color words in Mongolian and Chinese have some similarities as well as differences in the aspects of the meaning of words, symbolic meaning and cultural connotation. And they have turned to be important parts of Mongolian and Chinese traditional culture in the continuous development and evolution.This article is divided into four parts: The first part clarifies the constructive types of Mongolian and Chinese color words; The second part draws a comparison between Mongolian and Chinese color word "white" and contrasts their cultural connotations; The third part draws a comparison between Mongolian and Chinese color words "red" and contrasts their cultural connotations; The fourth part analyzes the differences of cultural connotations between Mongolian and Chinese color words, “white” and “red”, and explores their causes.
