In recent years, the project-oriented teaching has became the focus of national curriculum reform of higher vocational education, some good results were achieved in Business English courses by implementing the project-oriented teaching mode, but there are also many problems existing in the teaching practice, such as followings: The target of “work and market –oriented” is not clear in the teaching performance; Project –oriented teaching tends to be a mere formality, and students’ participation is not high; There are few scientific and effective supporting business English textbooks; The construction structure of teaching team is unreasonable; It results in poor teaching effect for lacking of enough practical lessons, effective project-oriented teaching management mechanism and effective teaching evaluation mechanism.By the means of literature research, survey research, comparative research and other related research methods, the paper aims to find out the situations about implementation of project-oriented teaching and discuss the reasons of problems in it. Through questionnaire survey of Business English teaching implementation, analysis of the facing difficulties in the process and the reasons, comparison of different teaching effects in different higher vocational colleges, the paper tries to combine with relevant education theory and teaching practice and propose scientifically the improving and constructive teaching strategies: The project-oriented teaching mode is demanded to focus on work and market; It is encouraged to adopt self-made business English textbooks; It is emphasized that the enterprises, business personnel deeply involve in Business English teaching; It is required to improve assessment methods, to improve the students’ enthusiasm to participate in the teaching; It is necessary to build up a project teaching course management system, based on the information teaching platform, and so on.
