A Textual Research On Words And Exegesis Of Wang Guanguo’s Xue Lin

The Note as a genre of literature consisting mainly of short sketches emerged as early as the Qin and Han Dynasties and has been in development with the change of dynasties.Compared with other dynasties,the notes of Song Dynasty cover a broad range of the social system,social production or the life of various nationalities in different historical periods,and the quantity is huge.Until this time textual criticism note began to mature and prosperous.The number of Song Dynasty textual dialectic notes occupied half of the total numbers of the textual notes in the Si Ku Quan Shu(《四库全书》).Xue Lin(《学林》)that one of the Song Dynasty textual dialectic notes have got outstanding accomplishments attributed to the broad range research of textual criticism the and the content,and the reference to the results of previous studies,theoretical support for this views and the serious points.The previous studies of Xue Lin,nevertheless,is still insufficiency and we need to explore more useful document literatures,to comb and stu dy its textual information for enriching the research of the Song Dynasty notes.The dissertation that consists of five chapters emphasizes on the study of the critical interpretation of the Xue Lin.Exordium, the first chapter introduced the notes of Song Dynasty and the Song Dynasty exegesis briefly and summarizes the contents,the author,the research objectives,and so on.Chapters of the second and the third sum up and conclude the contents and methods of the whole book.The second chapter introduces the contents in detail which concerns broad coverage of the book. This text makes a brief sort from the exegetical outpoint to its layout and exegetical contents. The main contents that include the textual criticism on graphemes, phonetic notation, meanings, collation, culture system, and so on.The third chapter summarizes the exegesis methods. According to the exegetical content of Xue Lin,we can sum up six methods that the relations between forms and meanings,pronunciation and meanings; Meanings from dialects; Antithesis distinguish; Meanings from different text and cultural. Application scopes were analyzed and gave brief examples.Chapters of the fourth and the fifth make some objective evaluations from the point of view of modern exegesis. The errors were carried out textual criticism and corrected.The fourth chapter analyzes and summarizes the achievements and deficiencies of the exegesis of the Xue Lin.The main achievements are that it preserves a large numbers of ancient annotations and traditional cultures and customs and that it explored the words.The theories of Sheng Wen(省文)and Zi Mu(字母)are particularly important.But the author also made some mistakes,for example,making subjective assumptions,catching the meaning of words literally from the context.Sometimes,the dogmatic and synchronic cause the misunderstanding of word meanings,and so on.The fifth chapter is the textual research of the entries.Thirty-two entries that Wang Guanguo(王观国)made mistakes are verified from the whole book.This entries that made mistakes would be textual research again and be pointed out the mistakes and be corrected.
