Research On The Analects Redundant Entries By Liu Taigong

The academies of the Qing Dynasty flourished in Qianjia School,and the Yangzhou School excelled in Qianjia School.Liu Taigong is a leading figure in the academic succession chain of Yangzhou School.He first absorbed and applied the basic methods of Sinology to study the Confucian classics,but also paid attention to the research methods of Song Studies.This is the special point of Liu Taigong and also his academic purview--to use textual research to seek the original meaning of the words,and to elucidate the meaning in combination with the context of the scriptures in order to restore the original meaning of the classics.As a famous scholar in the period of Qianjia,Liu Taigong’s representative work,the Analects Redundant Entries has only sixteen items,but it is renowned for its incisiveness.The main content of the Analects Redundant Entries is an annotation for those who used to be ambiguous or inexact in interpretation.To restore the original meaning of Confucius is the purpose of Liu Taigong’s Analects Redundant Entries,and the method used to realize this original intention is to combine the learning of Sinology and Song Studies.Based on the items of the Analects Redundant Entries written by Liu Taigong,this paper summarizes Liu Taigong’s interpretation logic and academic characteristics of the Analects of Confucius.According to the contents and characteristics of the items themselves,the contents of the sixteen items are divided into three parts for investigation: one is the eight items related to "rites";The second is four items related to the Book of Songs.The remaining four items as a part,combined with the first two parts at the same time to make a study of Liu Taigong’s interpretation way.The introduction part first elaborates the origin of the topic.Secondly,the present research situation is sorted out.Finally,the research methods of this paper are summarized.The first chapter generalizes the study of the articles of the rite in the Analects Redundant Entries.Liu Taigong makes a large number of use of the scriptures of the Three Rituals to prove his own argument.It is of methodological significance for the study of the Analects of Confucius to observe the text of the analects with the literature materials of the Three Rituals.The second chapter summarizes the research situation of the Analects Redundant Entries related to the Book of Songs,and Liu Taigong has his unique views on the understanding of mixing up music.The Analects Redundant Entries is related to the entries of The Book of Songs,and its content is mainly aimed at two aspects.The first is about the form and style of " mixing up music ";The second is related to the "beginning and ending" of music.The third chapter mainly discusses the methodology of the Analects Redundant Entries.The methods used by Liu Taigong are mainly summarized into three points:one is "distinguishing error and interpreting error to pursue Confucius ";One is the method of "combining rationality and creating a new path".Another is pursuing truth through combining Han and Song.The fourth chapter mainly explores the academic influence of Liu Taigong.Its academic influence is mainly reflected in Liu Baonan’s the Interpretation of Analects of Confucius inherits the Analects Redundant Entries and the emphasis on the Analects Redundant Entries in Mao Zishui’s Annotation and Translation of the Analects Today.
