In recent years, the role of pragmatic research in the teaching of Chinese as a second language has been increasing notably. After acquiring pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, learners began to aspire after accurate understanding and appropriate expressing. Especially in the process of listening, international students confused by the humorous language corpus.So far, few studies on the international students’ understanding and application of Chinese humorous language corpus have been touched upon, let alone the combination of humorous language materials and Chinese listening materials. This thesis try to collect the humorous language materials in the commonly-used university listening textbooks,conduct a case study of the international students to analyze the causes of the errors according to their answers and understand their attitudes towards Chinese humor language materials. At last some suggestions are put forward on the issue of how to understand and use the humorous language materials in the course of listening studies from two aspects of textbooks and teaching.The first chapter represents the introduction, mainly on the the source of this topic, the research status at home and abroad, the purpose and significance of this study. The description of the humorous language’ssource and its selection basis are also included. Then the thesis makes an operational definition of humor corpus, and finally introduces the innovation points, difficulties and the methodology of the study.The second part of the thesis is the standard research on humor corpus of foreign students-oriented Chinese textbook, which is discussed from its construction ways and discourse functions.The next part investigates the International students’ perception and comprehension of the phenomenon of humor corpus and analyzes the results of the interview.The fourth section of the study is based on the previous analysis,giving advice on the foreign students-oriented Chinese listening textbook and its pedagogic method.The last part is the conclusion, summarizing the main points of the thesis and pointing out the deficiencies as well.
