Children’s Science Literature Of Gao Shiqi In The 1930s

Children’s Science Literature,as an important branch of children’s literature, is also integral to the whole of Chinese literature. However, in terms of the history of its writing and theoretical foundations, Children’s Science Literature is still a relativtively young field, as it has not been systematically collected and researched.Gao Shiqi, the great Chinese science writer, devoted his whole life to writing good science literature for children.The 1930 s saw the peak of his creative life. His works in that turbulent war age showed a unique artistic charm and played a positive role in that particular period.Therefore, this study focuses on his creative works in Children’s Science Literature in the 1930 s.This paper consists of four parts. The introduction provides a brief overview of Children’s Science Literature and analyses its research status. Chapter One clarifies the historical context of Gao Shiqi’s literary creation from three angles : review of the previous endeavors, changes in people’s viewpoints on children and the promotion of left-wing literary movement.The second chapter is the main part of the article, focusing on introducing Gao Shiqi’s literary works in Children’s Science Literature in 1930 s.Firstly, it elaborates Gao Shiqi’s creative path and writing profiles in the 1930 s.And then it analyzes the features of his writing from two aspects, namely, the contents and subjects of his writing as well as the artistic expressions. The last chapter summarizes the historical significance of Gao Shiqi’s writings in this particular period.
