Practice is an integral part of the learning process of any language. Students can change the knowledge of language skills through lot of practice, and get the ability to use Chinese language.In teaching Chinese as a foreign language field has formed a consensus that the setting of exercise is attached great importance in the process of compiling textbooks.But insufficient and irrational use of exercises in which the editor spent much effort is still exist.In this regard,taking<A Course in Chinese> as an example,we hope to get the situation of teachers and students’ use and treatment of exercises through the investigation,explore a better method which can improve the teaching effect,so as to achieve the best use of textbook resources.The full paper is divided into six parts.Excluding the preface and conclusion,the text contains four chapters:The introduction will elaborate about the status and significance about this topic,and introduce the research route and research method.Chapter one:This part will study the statistics on the exercises in the first volume of "A Course in Chinese", analyze and evaluate the setting of the types and quantity of the exercises.Chapter two:This part will investigate teachers and students through interview and questionnaire to know the teachers’ use and treatment of exercises,and the students’view on the exercises and their attitude towards the practice. And then summarize the current situation and existing problems of teachers and students’ use and treatment of text exercises in elementary Chinese intensive reading class.Chapter three:On the basis of the problems found in investigation,propose several principles to choose classroom exercises:simple principle,pertinence principle,consentrative principle,phonetic principle,communicative principle.And point out the problems should be paid attention in the effective use of textbook exercises.Chapter four:Based on theory and practice,this part will research how to combine classroom exercises and after-school exercise two different ways to achieve the best use of the textbook exercises through the case of<Can I try it>.The conclusion will summarize the main work done by this research and the key findings, and point out the shortage.
