Practice plays a significant role in language learning, therefore, language textbooks should prove plenty of good quality exercises for students to practice. The thesis put its basic aim at the exercises of two typical Chinese elementary textbooks, and selects A Comprehensive Course in Elementary Chinese and Boya Chinese Elementary as research objects. This thesis mainly study on two aspects of the exercises in the two textbooks quantitatively and qualitatively, one is the quantity of the exercises, the other is the pattern of the exercises. We make deep research on exercise contents and exercise modes for the two aspects. Find the similarities and differences between the two textbooks, and give an objective evaluation. Finally the study makes some suggestions for using and rewriting the two textbooks. Moreover, it is hoped that the findings of this thesis can provide some insights into the design and arrangement of exercises in Chinese textbooks. |
