The Research On "SanYan" "ErPai" Regional Narrative

"SanYan" "ErPai" are famous vernacular literature from the Ming dynasty. The novels’ characters existed in different time and place, and the content of the story is filled with various orientations, scenes, and perspectives. This research paper aims to obtain a new perspective while observing the two novels, " SanYan " and " Er Pai", by focusing on the regional features and the local narrative in both of the narratives. This researching method of using multiple features to analyze both articles will help enhance the understanding of both narrative as it provides multiple and diversified interpretations of both narratives.This dissertation is composed of five chapters, with the inclusion of the Introduction and Epilogue.The introduction covers the current research of" San Yan " and " ErPai", and introduces the situation and main problems.Chapter 1 comprises of previous researches of " SanYan " and " ErPai", which specifically emphasize on the local region research of "SanYan" and "Er Pai" The method of research includes the usage of statistics and chart analysis. The focus and analyzation of the region are studied in a layered and circular model that is similar to target, in which the center area are considered as internal/domestic, and the outer layer are international. There are three layers to the studies. The studies start at the core/center, which includes:Suzhou, Hangzhou, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang. The focus then makes it way out to encompass larger area coverage. Mobility between the circles or layers are categorized by different factors such as business and travel, imperial examination, and government official accepting new posts. The movements between the circles will be used to examine the strength and weaknesses of certain themes of the novel.Chapter 2 offers an insight of the geographical driving force of " San Yu" and "Er Pai." The section will make reference to the narrative theory, especially the space theory in the narrative theory, in addition to the the research of Chinese literature local experience in the literature and regional relations. It will also use literature geographical perspective to further reveal the regional narrative, as a way to promote role for the novel text which Including regional plot construction of narrative and characterization, the function of the plot construction main show two aspects:one is a regional narrative coincidence or chance, to expand the story or make a sudden turn; The second is the region with timeliness of narrative, narrative time and space combine to promote the development of the plot. The shape effect on the characters shows two aspects, regional culture directly influencing the characters and local narrative reflecting the characters inner emotional fluctuations and the symbol of the fate of the characters. This chapter focus on town narrative, town narrative contains rich content, such as the pursuit of wealth and debauchery, stick to the talents,morality and love, etc.; which present utilitarian and writing space expansion, etc.Chapter3 uses text analysis to compare the difference between " SanYan" "ErPai"’s regional description. This includes the difference between the characters in the narrative description and the differences in distribution of regional narrative.The epilogue emphasizes on specific text, region description present characteristics may be various, regional narrative for the influence of the novel text also integrated. Different text need to specific analysis and comprehensive consideration.
