Cultural Implications Of Jiangnan Culture In The "Sanyan And Erpai" Female Image

“Extremely ambivalent differences in human situations,ready to write sadness and joy.”(《Jin Gu Qi Guan Xu》)“Sanyan and Erpai”is such a collection of five excellent storybooks and fictional stories.“Sanyan and Erpai” is the general name of “Yu Shi Ming Yan ”,“ Jing Shi Tong Yan ”,“ Xing Shi Heng Yan ”,“ Pai An Jing Qi ”and“ Er Ke Pai An Ji ng Qi”.As the pinnacle of Chinese novels in the late Ming Dynasty,it has a wide range of topics and complex themes.Feng Menglong and Ling Mengchu drew nutrients from the Song and Yuan dialects and integrated their own perceptions.They created a large number of bright and artistic characters,which deeply reflected the civic life at the end of the Ming Dynasty and the social customs.Shen Dacheng of the Qing Dynasty said,“Man is the essence of heaven and earth.”The beautiful scenery of Jiangnan gave birth to the beautiful Jiangnan daughter,and Feng Menglong and Ling Mengchu were vividly recorded in the“Sanyan and Erpai”Today we have the opportunity to see from the book their true face under the general background of the booming commodity economy,the rise of the citizen class,and the popular literature in the late Ming Dynasty.This article discusses this topic from four aspects.The first chapter gives an overview of Jiangnan culture.The geographical scope of Jiangnan culture is defined,and the unique natural geographical features of each region and the Jiangnan landscape appearing in “Sanyan and Erpai” are introduced.The second chapter traces the literary origin of the female characters in Jiangnan in “Sanyan and Erpai”and classifies them into five categories: ladies,market women,prostitutes,nuns,and fairy spirits;summarizes the characteristics of female characters Both talented and good-looking,good at manual labor,business-minded,and emotional,and discussed with specific female characters in “Sanyan and Erpai”.The third chapter discusses the relationship between the female image of “Sanyan and Erpai” and the Customs in Jiangnan,including the customs of marriage,business,and life.The fourth chapter is the Jiangnan cultural spirit reflected in the female image of “Sanyan and Erpai”.The Jiangnan cultural spirit can be divided into the Jiangnan cultural spirit formed by historical accumulation and the Jiangnan cultural spirit formed by the characteristics of the times.All in all,this article expands from the above four aspects,and strives to make an objective and specific discussion of the cultural implication of female characters in the “Sanyan and Erpai” based on intensive reading of the text,revealing the unique characteristics of Jiangnan women and the influence of profound changes in social life of Jiangnan in the late Ming Dynasty on the women in Jiangnan in “Sanyan and Erpai”.
