Analysis On The History And Architecture Of The Great Southern Mosque Of Xuanhua

As a great important part of heritage of Xuanhus’ ancient architectures, the Great Southern Mosque of Xuanhua owns gorgeous and precious historical information on the Muslim civilization. According to the historical records, the Great Southern Mosque was originally constructed in Yongle year of Ming dynasty(1403), it located in Mishi Street now. In Daoguang year of Qing dynasty, since the neglecting of management and maintenance for numerous years, the mosque was destroyed gradually. After that, the Ding, Shan, and Yu family reconstruct the mosque and relocated it to the middle part of Miaodi Street. The Chapter 1 of this paper provides a brief introduction about the ancient architecture of Xuanhua, and the general knowledge of mosque buildings, as well as Islam cultures. It purposes to elucidate the foundation background of Xuanhua Great Southern Mosque, its history development and its overall appearance, therefore to outline readers an understanding of whole history of Xuanhua Great Southern mosque macroscopically.Xuanhua Great Southern mosque as the religious building of Islam, it characters the specific religious culture, and represents the particular religious requirements.
