In all times, heroes make an impact on all kinds of aspects of the production and life of mankind. As the market economy is pushing forward, we need heroes in our days, and they are especially important parts in building the new socialist countryside.The studies of in Chinese country films have been focused on six parts: its compared study, history study, and so on. But seldom focus on the heroic images in Chinese mainland country films in the market-oriented period. So this paper is trying to use the theory of heroic archetypes and Chinese heroic ideas to analyze the heroic images in Chinese country films during the market-oriented period.This thesis is divided into four chapters:The first chapter defines the Chinese mainland country films during the market-oriented period. And introduces the theory of archetypes, the theory of heroic archetypes and Chinese heroic ideas to analyze the heroic, then find that hero has four qualities and can be divided into two kinds. Finally, the author defines the heroic images in the country films in two times.The second chapter discusses the constrction of heroic images in the time of Chinese market- orientation about Chinese country films, including the populace makes mighty work, the populace heroic qualities. Finally, the chapter divided the heroic images in the time of Chinese market- orientation about Chinese country films.In the third chapter, the author combines the chapter one and chapter two to sum up the appearance and feature of hero images about Chinese country films. First, civil hero images are unique. Second, the populace heroes are human-based.The fourth chapter talks about the significance of the heroic images in detail, including the salvation of mind, wake up the ‘hero’in the heart and to inherit the Chinese culture.
