Along with rapid development of the economic globalization and frequent cultural exchange among nations, translation, as an indispensable medium in international cultural exchange, is playing an important role in enhancing race communications, and promoting human development. Translation is not a process of simple semiotic transformation, but a cross-cultural communication activity. In the activity, factors such as writers, readers, translators, publishers,form a interactive translation fields. In culture diffusion, publishers make huge impacts. Publishers consider a series of questions, including choices of the versions, editing and publishing of the translated texts, promotion and propagation of the translation, and readers’ reception. On the basis of these knowledge, this dissertation is based on "Fields"—Bourdieu’s sociology theory and related achievements of translation theory, especially those on Chinese Literature’s translation and acceptance in France. The dissertation studies the publishers’diffusion effects in translation activities from the angle of sociology. Also, the article uses the Edition Philippe Picquier, which specifically publish Asian Literature as a research object, combing its publishings of Chinese Literature, analyzing its publishing strategies, publishing mechanisms, choice mechanisms, and discussing the publishers’effects on literature translation and transmission.In the introduction, this dissertation discusses the importance of translation to literature diffusion in global context. Translation activity is a complicated cross-cultural activity which includes many factors (authors, translators, readers, publishers, etc.). These factors form a interacted translation field. This article discusses publishers’effects in literature translation and diffusion.The first chapter discusses and analyzes the special position of translation in French publishings in the first. Then, this chapter introduce those French publishers which devote to Chinese Literature, especially the Edition Philippe Picquier.In the second chapter, the dissertation studies the operation mechanism of Edition Philippe Picquier, particularly the effects of those literary agents, translators, art editors, and publishing promoters. Meanwhile, the dissertation points out that professional cultural agents, excellent translators and art editors of Edition Philippe Picquier, together with its various promoting sources, advancing the understanding in Asian Literature, and promoting Asian Literature’s diffusion and development in France.The third chapter concludes the successful experiences of Edition Philippe Picquier, pointing out that their key factors of success are cultural environment, high-level translators, readers’ guidance, market development, and publishing guidelines.In conclusion, the dissertation insists in enhancing the studies on publishers. Meanwhile, it also proposes some suggestions about Chinese Literature’s diffusion abroad.
