A Report On The Translation Of Operation Methods Of Desktop Publishing And Design

Nowadays, scientific and technological exchanges among countries are increasingly frequent. Technical translation has become an indispensable medium to introduce and absorb advanced foreign science and technology. Entrusted by the internship company, I translated Operation Methods of Desktop Publishing and Design, which was used as its internal teaching material.After reading the instructions, I find that almost all of them are divided into honorific part and simplified part. The honorific form is adopted when introducing the function of the product while the simplified form is used when introducing specific operation methods. Considering the features of Japanese instruction manual and combining the textual norms of Chinese instructions, this report analyzes the method of genre selection in translation.Meanwhile, owing to the high frequency of long sentences, this report discusses some skills in the translation of long sentences in the case analysis, such as the split and reduction. It explores how to split in the former approach and the translation of each small part as well as the rationality of language reduction in the latter approach.
