| The author of the novel The Floating Opera is the famous American writer John Bass. This novel talks about Andrew, the main character, his investigation of the reason of his father’s suicide action, and his love affair with his good friend Mike’s wife. Andrew racks his brain to sink the showboat names “the floating opera†in the name of suicide, but finally ended in failure.This thesis takes the lexical cohesion theory as the instruction and translates some chapters of The Floating Opera.
