Translation of legislative text is an important branch of translation. Features of legislative text in terms of word, sentence structure and text structure make it professional and rigorous. Measures for Bidding and Submission of Tendering for Construction Projects(2013 Version) is selected as source-language materials for this essay. This law for tender and bid activities is jointly promulgated and issued by State Development and Planning Commission, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Railways and other four departments of the state, authoritative and typical as legislative text.This essay takes perspective of pragmatic equivalence for translation study. Principles of accuracy, consistency, formality and conciseness may ensure pragmatic equivalence between translated version and source text. Based on these guiding principles, a series of translation methods and techniques are adopted, assisting translator to achieve pragmatic equivalence during English translation of Chinese legislative text.
