This article provided Chinese Peranakan in Singapore as an object of study, and took examples of two typical families, namely Tan Tock Seng family and Tan Kim Seng family, and explored the problems they faced for seeking subsistence, accommodation and fusion, then find the methods. The two families’s history of Tan Tock Seng and Tan Kim Seng is also the Chinese Peranakan’s history of struggles, they insisted on Chinese traditional culture, at the same time, Chinese Peranakan absorbed aboriginal culture and western culture, then a cultural phenomenon of unity in diversity took shape. During this process, the hard work of Chinese Peranakans laid the developing foundation of early Singapore, and they took an active part in public welfare, made positive interaction with political system, safeguarded social order, and finally exercised a great positive influence on modern Singapore history.
