| Seng Zhao is one of the most important monks in the Eastern-Jin Dynasty,and under the strict guidance of Kumārajīva,his sutras and shastras were mainly devoted to the idea of prajnā thought At the same time,Seng Zhao made a comprehensive criticism of the Chinese prajnā thought and established a complete system of prajnā thought with Chinese cultural characteristics.Although Seng Zhao’s prajnā thought has been widely circulated,the date of Seng Zhao’s birth and death has never been determined.Based on the previous research,we will analyze the life of Seng Zhao from three time periods,including “hometown in Jingzhao”,“became a monk”and “under the strist guidance of Kumārajīva”,using the primary sources such as the “The Biography of Emine” for evidence.However,due to the lack of historical sources,it is only possible to project the birth year of Seng Zhao as 384 and his death in 414,and to append the important events of Seng Zhao’s life at the end of the article.The title of bu zhen kung lun which is as controversial as the “birth and death”,will be discussed one by one in the context of the Zhao Lun and Shuowen Jiezi,in order to restore its true meaning.“Bu”(negative)“Zhen”(perfect)“Kong”(prajnā)and “Bu Zhen Kong”(the Dharma-door of Non-duality)will be discussed one by one.“Bu”and “Fou” have similarities in pronunciation,form and meaning,and both can serve as negative meanings.The word “Bu” is a manifestation of the apohavada,such as “Bu” to express the prajnāthought.The word “Zhen” means perfect man,and “Bu Zhen” means “Chih-jen”.“Zhen”and “Bu Zhen” are opposites,but they are not separate.The “Zhen”is the “Bu Zhen” and the“Bu Zhen” is the “Zhen”.Seng Zhao uses the word “Bu” to cover up “Zhen” and emphasizes “Kong”.“Bu Zhen” and “Kong” are two epithets of the same real meaning,and meaning of them is “Kong”.Therefore,“Bu Zhen” is “Kong”.In addition to the above two questions,the central problem that needs to be solved is the interpretation of Seng Zhao’s prajnā thought.The meaning of the idea of prajnā thought is to emphasize that all dharmas are formed by relevant influencing,but they are not real,but only false,and false existence is prajnā thought.Finally,based on the above three questions,from the perspective of buddhism’faction and doctrines,the influence of the idea of prajnā thought on Chinese Buddhism is obvious,for example,the Three Sastra School and the Hua-Yan school,etc.From the perspective of pragmática,Seng Zhao deconstructed the duplicate metaphysics into prajnā thought,based on the surface structure,extended to the next level,and revealed the deep structure of prajnā thought,and combined Indian doctrine with the symbols of Chinese language,between duplicate metaphysics and buddhism’faction and doctrines,not only promoted the external evolution of duplicate metaphysics,but also opened up the development of Buddhist scriptures.From the perspective of The Contemporary Significance of Seng Zhao’s prajnā thought,the prajnāthought is still applicable to the society,teaching people fall into the Dharma-door of Non-duality and eliminating attachment to conditioned dharma. |
