The Study Of Relationship Between University Students’ Self-Discrepancy, Narcissism And Negative Emotions

Overt narcissism, covert narcissism and self-discrepancy have important influences on the mental health of university students, and there is a close relationship with the university students’ negative emotions.Stealth narcissism and bigger self-discerpancy will lead to the depression and anxiety of college students adverse emotional experience. Based on self-discrepancy theory Higgins with the time dimension for university students to study with WSCS, SAS, CES-D and Students Narcissistic Personality Questionnaire to investigate 300 Northwest Normal University freshman and third-grade students. Using structural equation model`s path analysis to investigate the relationship between self-discrepancy, overt/covert narcissism and negative emotions(depression, anxiety).That showed:1.There still have a close relationship between depression,anxiety and self-discrepancy in different time dimension.So as covert narsissim of university student and depression.2. Overt/covert narcissism can`t be intermediary variable.3.Group intervention has significant intervention effect on anxiety and self-discrepancy, but there was no effect of medium on depression.The results riched self discrepancy and the empirical study of narcissism, help you to develop self-discrepancy theory and narcissistic said the poles.Combined actual application and research results, can provide the base for college psychological counseling work;To help university students correct view of oneself and to accept the reality self.
