A Report On The Translation Of Chuandao Series Washing Machine: User’s Manual

The translation text of the report is Chuandao Series Washing Machine: User’s Manual, which is translated from Chinese into English and belongs to one of my translation programs. Based on the experience of translating the text, the translator wrote the report.This report includes four chapters: task description, translation process, case analysis and translation conclusion.The first chapter introduces the source and the content of the translated text and tells the significance of translating this text.The second chapter states the translation process, which contains four steps: the preparation for the translation, the writing process of the first translation, the difficulties during modifying the translation and the methods of solving the problems, and the process of finalizing the translation.The third chapter is the main part of this report. In this chapter, the translator combines three principles of Skopostheorie, namely the skopos rule, the coherence rule and the loyalty principle with the translated text. And then the translator gives case anlysis in the perspective of the three rules so as to explain the guidance of Skopostheorie on translating the text.Finally, it goes to the translation conclusion. In this chapter, the translator summarizes two aspects: the importance of translation practice to handling translation theories and skills and the translators’ initiative during the application of Skopostheorie in the practice.The translator has learnt from this translation practice that a translator should be equipped with strong bilingual ability and abundant knowledge. In this way, one can be a qualified translator.
