A Literature Review Of Chinese Contemporary Sheng Music Art (1949-2014)

Sheng is an ancient ethnic Musical Instruments in China. From now on, it exists more than 3000 years. Sheng belongs to one of the sound free spring gas tube instrument in traditional Chinese Musical Instruments.Since the establishment of the new China in 1949, many artists and scholars have studied in the research of Sheng music art theory by shallow or deep. They have achieved fruitful research in this field. Based on the investigation of the existing research results, the artists and scholars mainly focus on six aspects. There are the study of historical culture and music species, improvement and change of musical instruments, representative works of morphological analysis in Sheng music, discussion of the main representative scholars, Sheng songs teaching, and the study of relationship between Sheng and orchestra.This thesis tries to sort out and summarize main achievements by the theories and practices in modern Sheng, and deepen the cognizant and understanding to the development of Sheng music art in academic areas, and promoting deeply innovation and development of the study of the Sheng music art field.
