This is a translation practice report on Wacker Chemie AG Annual Report 2012. The company’s annual report could reflect the work performance of the board of directors and executive management, the company’s financial situation, the situation of share out bonus and the value of the company’s stock in the market. The company’s annual report contains the company’s related business activities, the main development, new products, the change of the administrative staff and some other very useful information. There are more and more Chinese and foreign joint ventures in the current situations. Foreign investment is under consideration. It may help us to make the right decisions without any damage if we have a comprehensive understanding of the operations of the foreign companies. Consequently, the translation studies for foreign companies’ annual reports in English have very important practical significance.This translation practice report mainly includes five parts: Part One is the translation project introduction, including the background, significance and contents of the translation task. Part Two is the analysis and preparation before translation. The analysis includes the analysis of text characteristics, the selection and use of parallel text, the search and use of relevant theories. The preparation includes the translation program planning, the translation process designing and the glossary formulating. Part Three is the intralingual translation studies of this translation project. Do detailed analysis of the English language characteristics and the relative translation methods of the annual reports from the perspective of specialized vocabulary and formal writing style. Part Four is the extra-linguistic translation studies of this translation project. Do detailed analysis of the extra-linguistic factors that can affect the quality of the translation. The four factors include: the depth and breadth of professional knowledge, the proper use of reference books, the utilization of the network resources and the interpreters’ capacity in establishing his own judgment and expressing his ideas explicitly. Part Five summarizes the problems and deficiency existing in the process of the translation practice.
