The Chu Sword Of Eastern Zhou Dynasty And Its Culture

This thesis takes the Chu sword of Eastern Zhou Dynasty as the research object,and study many topics detailedly,especially the archaeological discoveries of the Chu sword,the relationship of the Chu sword with the science and technology,with the custom,and with the literature and art.At present,most swords of the Eastern Zhou period come from the Chu. According to the statistical analysis of the Chu sword,we can conclude that the Chu swords of the Spring and Autumn period are few in number,early in time,scattered in distribution,rough but complete in shape;the Chu swords of the Warring States period are large in number,wide in distribution,highly concentrated in the distribution of time and space,preserved well.On the material,the Chu swords can be divided into copper,iron,wood and others,and wood swords are the most special among them;IOn the shape,the Chu swords can be divided into pole ridge,empty stem.solid stem and flat stem.I discuss the characteristics of different styles,and summarize the law of evolution.The technology of the Chu swords is an important aspect of sword culture in Chu.The superb sword technique and the beautiful decorations reflect the level of science and technology in the weapon.especially the composite sword and the steel sword.From the beautiful decorations,we can find many flash points of science and technology,such as engraving craft,anti-corrosion craft,bonding craft,Glass manufacturing craft and so on.As the cold weapon on the battlefield.he Chu swords also transmit rich cultural information.In the long-term development,the Chu people forms the fashion of loving swords,for the performance of wearing swords,presenting swords,suiciding with swords,buring swords and the ingenious swordsmanship.I analyse the reasons of it from environment,history,economy,military,society and subjectivity.the fashion of loving swords of Chu reveals not only social custom,but also power tolerance and strong momentum.The Chu swords have not only material carrier but also abstract image.From the myths and legends,the prose of Zhuangzi,and the poem of Quyuan,we can find the image of sword.From the painting,sculpture and song and dance,we can find the charm of sword.In the analysis of a large amount of materials,I find that it produces far-reaching influences.The Chu swords,with its profound culture and unique charm, shine in the pre Qin history,and make us have a more comprehensive, more three-dimensional understanding of the material life and spiritual world of Chu people. Through the exploration of the Chu swords and its culture,we can have a deeper understanding of the connotation and the status of the Chu culture,and comprehend the bright and brilliant of Chu culture.
