In recent years, the rapid development of society needs a lot of English talents. Training English talents has become an important job in today’s college English education. Hence, College English Curriculum Requirements made clear that the English education should make full use of multimedia and network technology and the new teaching model to improve the teaching. From then on, many universities started to make researches on the actual practice of NACET. For this reason, this paper aims at investigating the current situation of network teaching platform assisting Guilin universities’ college English teaching with the hope of giving some implications to the establishment and perfection of the college English teaching mode in Guilin.The study investigates the current situation of network teaching platform assisting Guilin universities’ college English teaching by employing the methods of questionnaires and interview based on the study of the relevant literature home and abroad. In this paper, the test subjects are English teachers and non-English major students from three universities of Guilin. The study attempts to answer the following questions: a. What is teacher’s and students’ network teaching platform operation skills? b.What is the teachers’ and student’s attitudes to the network teaching platform? c. What are the teacher’s and student’s practices of the network teaching platform? d. What is the theoretical basis of teachers’ using the NACET?The result shows that the universities have been equipping with computer language laboratories and other auxiliary equipment for college English teaching. Besides, many teachers can accept NACET, and most English teachers and students have positive attitudes to NACET. However, English teachers and students are lacking of skills and practices on NACET. And teachers’ theory framework of NACET are imperfect. But the NACET is still in the primary stage of development. It has not been widely used by teachers and students. Through the analysis of the results of the present situation of NACET, some suggestions are given:(1) For the college manage personnel, the NACET should be equipped with more software and hardware. Besides, a matured NACET teaching mode and evaluation system should be established. What is more, college English teachers should be provided with more modern technology trainings to improve the operation of NACET; (2) For college English teachers, they should constantly update their theoretical foundations of NACET. In addition, the cooperation between teachers and students should be strengthened in order to improve the good teaching effect of NACET. At the same time, teachers should help students to cultivate their autonomous learning and make good use of the network teaching platform to enhance their English ability. (3) For college non-English major students, they should strive to improve their ability of using the network teaching platform and develop their learning awareness and habits.
