Nowadays,with the deepening development of economic globalization and the increasingly frequent exchanges between countries,the state has put forward the "Belt and Road" policy.With the continuous improvement and promotion of this policy,the national demand for English majors has increased significantly.Under the influence of the environment,vocational colleges,as the main base for cultivating practical talents,need to cultivate high-quality talents with both cross-cultural ability and professional ability.In order to provide more high-quality English talents reserve for the development of "Belt and Road ",it is necessary for vocational colleges to arrange cultural teaching contents reasonably in English teaching,so that students can learn language knowledge while also understanding the cultural knowledge behind it,Improve students' comprehensive English quality and lay a good foundation for their employment.Students in vocational colleges have a weak foundation in English,poor initiative and lack of interest in learning,which may be caused by many reasons,the lack of English culture teaching is one of the important aspects.Students in vocational colleges have less contact with English cultural background,and it is easy to cause misunderstanding because of cultural differences in communication,which hinders the smooth progress of communication.Therefore,cultural teaching in English teaching is particularly important.However,in the course of practice,the author finds that there is a phenomenon of belittling or even neglecting culture teaching in English teaching in vocational colleges.Based on this situation,this paper mainly studies the following two problems:(1)What is the current situation of English culture teaching in vocational colleges?(2)What are the problems of English culture teaching in vocational colleges,and what causes these problems?In this study,120 students and 33 English teachers in Qufu Chinese Medicine School were studied.The research methods mainly use observation method,interview method and questionnaire method.The research results show that the present situation of cultural teaching in vocational colleges is worrying,and there are many problems,such as: students' weak grasp of cultural knowledge,low interest in learning English culture,lack of attention to English culture learning,unreasonable setting of cultural content of teaching materials,heavy teaching tasks,teachers' insufficient attention to cultural teaching and their own cultural literacy need to be improved.The author finds that the causes of the problems mainly come from four aspects: students,teachers,teaching materials and schools.Finally,according to the survey data and the results of interviews and classroom observation,the existing problems in cultural teaching in vocational colleges are put forward.
